ABOUT ME
I use design and creativity to lead and support projects that benefit people and planet.
I trained as a graphic and visual communications designer in my native country, Costa Rica. After an initial foray into advertising, I moved to France to study an MSc. in International Business and Management for Design. Here, I began to engage with the challenges at the intersection of business, design, social innovation and the environment.
Since then I have worked using a design led approach as a manager, creative entrepreneur, researcher and designer in Paris, London, Edinburgh, rural communities in Costa Rica, Myanmar and Ethiopia. I enjoy researching and codesigning with people, communities and institutions to find meaningful and inspiring ideas that spark change within complex systems. I have been lucky to work in a range of fields including: community led climate change policy; women’s health and menstrual hygiene, sustainable food services in urban environments; marine conservation and the effects of plastics on megafauna; rural farming and low-tech irrigation; the circular economy and fashion systems; and artisanal crafts as livelihoods and cultural identity.
Currenly, I’m fascinated by the world of systems change and regenerative design. I’m excited about the potential of harnessing collective efforts to drive change that reflects and responds to the bio-cultural uniqueness of a place and supports life, all life.
Outside of work, you will find me enjoying nature with my children, teaching and/or practicing yoga and forever admiring crafts. I also love making (ceramics, photography, pickles, collages, the list is long…) and exploring new places.
